How TU Go works

TU Go is a free app that lets you use your O2 number on tablets and laptops.

It’s just like using your phone – you can log in to TU Go to get your calls, texts and voicemail on up to five devices. And the person you’re calling doesn’t need to have the app.

Calls and texts you make through TU Go cost the same as on your mobile, and come out of your monthly allowance. If you've used up your allowance, we'll charge you the standard rate.

The app also uses a small amount of data to sync your Timeline and voicemail – this will come out of your data allowance.

Getting TU Go

TU Go is available on:

  • iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch (with iOS5.0 or higher)
  • Android phones and tablets (with Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.3 or higher)
  • PCs (with Windows 7)

Download the app from:

  • Apple's App Store
  • Google Play
  • o2.co.uk/tugo

If you're signed in to TU Go on your O2 mobile, you'll get a notification from your phone another one from TU Go. If you want fewer notifications, here’s how to change your settings:

  • iPhone users: Go to iPhone Settings > Notifications
  • Android users: Go to Phone and Messaging app settings

Using TU Go abroad

When you're abroad, people can call you via TU Go by dialling your mobile number as usual.

If you call or text on wifi only, it'll cost the same as if you were in the UK, and come out of your monthly allowance. Calls to international numbers will be charged at the usual UK rate.

If you're not on wifi and make a call through TU Go, you’ll be charged at the normal roaming rate – a pop-up will appear to let you know.

If you leave your data switched on, TU Go's voicemail will keep syncing over the mobile network and you'll have to pay the roaming charges for using data abroad, which can be very high.

To avoid charges, switch off your data roaming:

  • iPhone users: tap Settings, General, then Mobile Data and slide Data Roaming to off
  • Android users: tap Settings in your apps menu, select Wireless & Networks then Mobile Networks and uncheck the Data Roaming box

Problems logging in

If you’ve forgotten your password:

  • Sign in to TU Go and click Forgot Password
  • Type in your mobile number, and we'll text a code to your phone
  • Type that code into TU Go, and you'll be able to reset your password

Or in the TU Go app:

  • From the TU Go home screen, tap Existing user
  • Enter your phone number and tap Forgot Password
  • We'll text a code to your phone
  • Type the code into TU Go, and you'll be able to reset your password

Problems accessing TU Go

TU Go needs a mobile network signal or wifi connection to work. If one isn't working, try switching to the other in TU Go Settings (or moving somewhere with stronger signal) and calling again.

Calls made over wifi need a good wifi connection - your call may start to sound distorted if the connection drops.

Your call will drop if you move between different wifi hotspots or you move out of GSM or wifi coverage.
