Topping Up

There’s loads of ways to top up your mobile – read on to find out how.


Check your balance and anniversary date


Before topping up, you can check your credit by:


  • Texting BALANCE to 20202
  • Calling 4444 for free and selecting option 2, then 2 again


You'll receive a text telling you your remaining tariff free allowance and/or Bolt On balance, plus the date they expire – your anniversary date.


After you've checked your balance, there are four ways to top up your mobile:


1. Calling the O2 Top-Up line


If you're in a direct dial country, you can call the O2 Top-Up line for free by:


  • Calling 4444
  • Using Hotkey 3 on your Pay & Go mobile
  • Calling +441753 552277 from any phone
  • Calling 08456 062 277 from any landline


If you’re topping up from a country that doesn't allow direct dialling, enter *111*# then press the call button. Your mobile will go on standby for a few seconds before it rings.


Answer the call and follow the voice prompts to access the Top-Up line by dialling 4444#.


2. Using O2 Wallet

O2 Wallet is closing on 31st March 2014. If you already have an O2 Wallet you can use it to top up until the 31st March, but it will close after that. Registrations for new customers closes on 9th January 2014, so you can’t open a new O2 Wallet to top up. For more information on the O2 Wallet closure please visit o2.co.uk/money.


If you already have a Wallet and still want to top up before 31st March follow the instructions below.


To get started, add your card to your O2 Wallet account. It must be:


  • A Visa or MasterCard
  • Issued in the UK
  • Registered to your UK home address
  • A personal card, not a business or expense card
  • Registered with your bank’s Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode service


If you're using a credit or debit card, you'll need:


  • The three-digit security code
  • Your Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode password


You can also load your O2 Wallet account using cash and top up using your O2 Money Account Card, which you get free when you register.


As long as you're in the UK, there's no data charge for topping up using O2 Wallet – and you can still get your O2 rewards.


Next steps

Once you've topped up, you’ll get a confirmation text within five minutes. If the top-up didn't work, it could be because:


  • You've registered the wrong card details – sign in online and go to Your Cards to check
  • You've moved house, so your address has changed. Get in touch to update us with your new details
  • Your debit card isn’t registered for Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode.
  • Your bank doesn’t support Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode. You're trying to use a card the O2 Wallet doesn't support. These include American Express, Maestro and corporate (business) account cards


If it's none of those things, give us a call on:


  • 4444 free from your mobile
  • 0845 606 2277 from any other phone (charges apply)


3. E-Top Up cards

If you have an E-Top Up card, simply:


  • Call 248 free from your mobile
  • Enter the 19-digit number on the back of the card
  • Enter the 5-digit PIN under the scratch panel on the back of the card


You’ll then get a text confirming that the card has been registered successfully and the credit will be added to your account.


Once you’ve activated an E-Top Up card, you can use the card to top up your mobile anywhere you see the E-Top Up logo.


4. Auto Top-Up

To get started, log in to your My O2 account and activate auto top-up.


You can then set a regular day or date to top up your mobile, and a specific amount of money. You can even set top-ups to activate when you’re low on credit. We'll take care of the rest and you can cancel at any time.
