Simplicity on Pay & Go
  • Simplicity on Pay & Go

A fiver goes a long way with simplicity. Find out more

    • What is Pay & Go Simplicity?

With Pay & Go Simplicity you choose a monthly allowance, starting from £7.50 of your top-up credit. You always get texts, plus you can choose options with minutes (to any UK network) and/or web.

And because there’s no monthly contract, you can change your allowance every month. You can do this by calling 2202, free from your O2 mobile.
    • I’m on Pay & Go Simplicity so why has money been taken off my credit?

With Pay & Go Simplicity, we will debit the money for your allowance from your Top-Up credit each month.  We’ll send you a text each month to remind you about this, and ask if you want to change your allowance.

If you're being charged for making calls or sending texts, it could be for one of these reasons:

      • You might not have chosen a Simplicity allowance. To choose an allowance, call 2202, free from your O2 mobile.
      • Your Simplicity tariff might have run out or been cancelled. To check, call 2202, free from your O2 mobile.
      • You might not have had enough credit on your anniversary date. To check which allowance you’re on, and how much it costs to renew it call 2202, free from your O2 mobile.
      • You have the £7.50 unlimited text allowance, so you’ll still pay for any calls you make. To change your tariff to include either 100 or 300 minutes, call 2202 free, from your O2 mobile.
    • What happens if I don’t top-up on my Pay & Go Simplicity anniversary date?

We’ll text you four days before your anniversary date to remind you to top-up.

If you’ve got enough credit to pay for your Simplicity allowance, we’ll add it as normal. Your anniversary date will stay the same.

If you don’t have enough credit, we’ll wait until you have before we add your allowance. We’ll send you a text to remind you to top-up. In the meantime, you’ll pay our standard Simplicity rates.

Your anniversary date will change to the new date when your allowance was added.
    • What happens if I use all my Pay & Go Simplicity inclusive minutes?

If you’re on a Pay & Go Simplicity allowance, you pay 35p a minute. (That’s for any calls you make in the UK, to numbers that are normally included in your allowance.)
    • Can I add a Bolt On to my Pay & Go Simplicity allowance?

Yes. You can get any Bolt On with Pay & Go Simplicity, except the messaging Bolt Ons. (That’s because you get unlimited texts with all Simplicity allowances.)

    • Is there a limit to 'unlimited' on Pay & Go Simplicity?

Our fair usage policy means you can send up to 2990 texts a month.

You can’t get unlimited web with Pay & Go Simplicity. You can get 100MB, 500MB or 1GB per month.

    • If I switch to a new Pay & Go Simplicity allowance but I decide I want to change, can I switch back to my original Simplicity allowance?

No. You won’t be able to go back to your original Simplicity allowance anymore. You’ll only be able to choose one of the new Simplicity allowances.

If you choose another Pay & Go tariff or a new Simplicity allowance, you won’t be able to go back to an old allowance or tariff.
    • Can I get online with Pay & Go Simplicity?

Yes. If you’re on Pay & Go Simplicity, you can go online from an extra £3 a month. You can add online use to each of our simplicity allowances. We’ve got three web allowances:

The Basics is a small package. With 100MB included it’s just right for light browsing and email for only £3 a month.

      The All-Rounder is a bigger package. You’ll get 500MB and 20 picture messages for £6 a month.

The Works is for people who want to make the very most of their mobile. It gives you 1GB and 50 picture messages for £10 a month.

You can change your mind and change your web allowance every month. You can do this by calling 2202, free from your O2 mobile.

You also have free access to O2 Wi-Fi hotspots across the UK.

    • What’s the best way to top-up if I’m on Pay & Go Simplicity?

To get your monthly allowance, top-up each month by at least the price of your Simplicity allowance.

We recommend auto top-ups to make sure you always have enough for your monthly Simplicity allowance. With auto top-ups, you can get automatically topped up each month. Go to o2.co.uk/topup to find out how to set it up.
    • If I want a specific Pay & Go Simplicity allowance, like £10.50, can I top-up with that amount?

No, you’ll need to make sure you have enough credit to cover your allowance. So, if you want our £10.50 simplicity allowance, you’ll need to top-up by at least £11 (by calling 4444 free from your O2 mobile) or £15 (in a shop). Or use any leftover credit, and top-up the rest so you have enough.

There are two ways you can top-up:

      • If you go into a shop, you can top-up between £10 and £50, usually in multiples of £5. For example £10, £15, £20, £25 and so on.
      • If you use a debit or credit card (using 4444 free from your O2 mobile) you can top-up any whole amount between £10 and £30. For example £11, £12, £14 and so on.
    • Can I top-up more than the cost of the Pay & Go Simplicity allowance?

Yes. You can then spend the rest of your credit on other things that aren’t included in your allowance, like voicemail or international calls. Or carry over anything you have left, so you don’t have to top-up as much next month.
    • I’ve got one of the web allowances but I’ve used all my monthly web allowance early. Can I still use web on my mobile?

Yes. You can use Wi-Fi (if you’ve got The All Rounder or The Works) or you can get online for up to £1 a day, which has a fair usage limit of 50MB a day. Check our terms and conditions at o2.co.uk/terms.
    • What happens if I don't have enough top-up to pay for next month's Pay & Go Simplicity allowance?

We give you four days notice via text message. But if you don't have enough credit for your allowance, you won’t receive it automatically until you next top-up and have enough credit to pay for the service.
    • How do I join Pay & Go Simplicity?

If you’re already a Pay & Go customer, you can join Pay & Go Simplicity by calling 2202 free from your mobile or texting in the relevant keyword, free to 21300. Remember, with Simplicity we take the payment from your credit each month and give you your allowance.

If you’re not with O2 yet, you can go into an O2 store or go to o2.co.uk and get a free Simplicity SIM. Then choose your allowance by texting the relevant keyword to 21300 or calling 2202, from your O2 mobile.

    • What is Web Daily?

Web Daily is a new, daily cap to the charge for data. It means that where customers don’t have a tariff allowance or data bolt-on and are paying for data, they’ll never pay more than £1 a day to use data in the UK.

You’ll also be charged at the Web Daily rates if your allowance has expired and you haven’t yet topped-up enough to re-activate it.

You don't have to opt-in to Web Daily as you benefit from this automatically.
    • Does the £1 Web Daily charge mean I have unlimited internet access on my phone for that day?

There is a fair usage policy, so the data usage is not completely unlimited - but if you do get close to the daily limit, we’ll give you a warning message.

If you reach the limit, your usage will be blocked for the rest of that day and you’ll be able to use data again after midnight.

    • What happens with Web Daily if I change tariff?

Web Daily is set up on all of our Pay & Go tariffs.
    • I’m on a tariff that has a free data allowance. Will I have to pay the £1 a day charge for browsing the internet on my phone?

You will only be charged Web Daily prices if you exceed the fair usage policy of your tariff allowance.

You’ll also be charged at the Web Daily rates if your allowance has expired and you haven’t yet topped-up enough to re-activate it.
    • I have the O2 Web Bolt On, will I have to pay the £1 a day charge for browsing the internet on my phone?

You will only be charged Web Daily prices if you exceed the fair usage policy of your O2 Web Bolt On or you have not had enough top-up credit to re-new your O2 Web Bolt On when the monthly charge was due.
    • Does the O2 Web Daily charging apply when I’m abroad?

    • I’ve got a Web Bolt On. Do I have to pay the daily £1 charge for using the internet on my mobile?

You will only be charged Web Daily prices if you exceed the fair usage policy of your O2 Web Bolt On or you have not had enough top-up credit to renew your O2 Web Bolt On when the monthly charge was due. But we’ll tell you first.
    • What Pay & Go Bolt Ons can I get?
